BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL

Tony and Olivier award-winning director Stephen Daldry's Billy Elliot the Musical won 9 Olivier awards, ran for 10 years, and was shown in London, Broadway and Australia. We made a raft of content including a documentary, "The Billy Elliot Diaries", a black and white coal miner’s film that opens the musical and an insightful highlight film of the audition process.

This was the project that started ‘Future Time Pictures’. In 2005, we created three films for one of the most celebrated and award-winning musicals on stage. The Real Billy Elliot Diaries' tells the story of the three boys chosen to play Billy in Billy Elliot the Musical. Our Audition Film introduces the thousands of young hopefuls who dream of becoming the next Billy. The opening film is about the generations of British coal miners, featuring archival footage from the British Film Institute and Pathé news archives.
